  • <H3> “Skye’s treehouse is incredible. It combines impressive sustainable engineering with a wonderful eye for artistry and whimsey. It is nestled among lush vegetation, so inside or outside, it is a true feast for the eyes. The kitchen is beautiful and well stocked. The main bedroom is like something from Swiss Robinson, while there are lots of other sleeping options. We had two families of three stay there, and we were very comfortable. The air circulated at night perfectly, keeping us cool and refreshed without the need for air conditioning. And we had a great dinner in town down the road at the edge of the national park. We could have happily stayed there much longer. It was perfect.
  • <H3> It was sad to learn that so many folks have have found the recent uptick in volcanic activity a reason to cancel their stays on the big island. We were right at the edge of the park in the treehouse, and we were as safe and comfortable as could be. The air was bright and clear, the roads and stores were filled with relaxed people going about their business, and we even got to drive through the park to a hiking area on the one-third of it that remains open. We learned that one of the big reasons the park is closed is that so many water lines have sustained damage, thus making it hard for the park to adequately host the typical crowds. The closure turned out to have very little to do with the actual threats from lava or ash, or even from significant earthquakes. We ended up having to travel 70 miles by boat from Hilo (which is already about 25 miles from the treehouse) just to try to glimpse lava. We are so glad we went, and we felt safe and comfortable throughout.
